What is Brain Entrainment?

Brain Entrainment, Brainwave Entrainment, Brainwave Synchronization, Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) and Neural Entrainment refers to the premise that the brain can naturally synchronize its brainwave frequencies with external periodic rhythmic stimuli, usually auditory, visual, or tactile. With PandoraStar we always use visual stimuli and often add an audio track as well.

In summary, there are five brainwave states that range from the high amplitude, low-frequency Delta to the low amplitude, high-frequency Gamma. These brainwave states range from deep dreamless sleep to high arousal. You can read about brainwave frequencies here.

What is an Altered State of Consciousness?

The Medical Definition of an altered state of consciousness is any of various states of awareness (as dreaming sleep, a drug-induced hallucinogenic state, or a trance) that deviate from and are usually clearly distinguished from ordinary waking consciousness.

There are also many common experiences that can create altered states of consciousness, such as sleeping or daydreaming, meditation, childbirth, sleep deprivation, sexual euphoria, or panic. Often, people intentionally try to alter their conscious state. Using a PandoraStar Light can facilitate an “Altered State of Consciousness”.

What is a Deep Trance State?

A deep trance state often referred to in Astral Projection practice or hypnosis, starts with deep relaxation where your mind becomes extremely calm and your body often becomes heavy. During this process, your brainwaves change from Beta to Alpha and then Theta (sometimes even Delta). Once in this Theta frequency range, you can enter into a deep trance state.

What is a Hypnagogic State?

A Hypnagogic state or Hypnagogia is experiencing a transitional state between being awake and asleep during the onset of sleep. Mental phenomena that occur during this transitional threshold consciousness phase include lucid thoughts and dreaming, hallucinations, and sometimes a sleep paralysis.
